Crime Numbers
The Nebraska Crime Commission (NCC) compiles crime statistics for all counties in the state. In NCC's latest crime data publication, Sarpy County recorded 222 violent crimes and 2,357 property crimes in 2018. Compared to the figures for 2014, both violent crime (68.2%) and property crime (2.1%) rates increased in 2018.
A closer look at the reported crimes for 2018 shows that there were 6 homicides, 77 rapes, 31 robberies, and 108 aggravated assaults. Sarpy County also recorded 222 burglaries, 1,854 larcenies, and 272 motor vehicle thefts in the same year. A five-year crime trend analysis for Sarpy County indicates that the only two crimes to record lower numbers, in 2018 compared to 2014, were burglaries (15.6%) and larcenies (1%). In the same period, homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, and motor vehicle theft rates increased by (500%), (126.5%), (19.2%), (52.1%), and (61.9%) respectively.
Criminal Records
As the central repository for criminal history records in the state, the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division (CID) provides criminal record checks for Sarpy County. Request for a criminal history report can be made in person, online, or by mail. CID provides a fingerprint-based criminal history check at $12.50 with an additional $3 for orders made online. Friends and family members can deposit funds by credit/debit card into an inmate’s account online using JailATM.com. Alternatively, relations can deposit cash or make card payments at the kiosk located in the Sarpy County Jail reception. The kiosk is open to the public from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The jail also accepts deposits into inmates’ accounts by money orders and cashiers’ checks sent via U.S. Postal Services. Court Records
Sarpy County courts are part of the 2nd Judicial Circuit of Nebraska. The District Court is the county’s primary trial court with jurisdiction over all felony, equity, and domestic relations cases along with civil cases involving more than $52,000. The Clerk of the District Court maintains all court records for the county. Sarpy County court records are searchable on the Nebraska Judicial Branch website. The public can search the database on the one-time case search page for a fee of $15 per search. New case files are made available on this page 24 hours after hearings. The Sarpy County Clerk of the District Court also provides the public online access to old court records. Vital Records
Sarpy County divorce records from 1909 to the present are maintained by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). A certified copy of a divorce record costs $16 and requests are taken by mail. When making a request, complete the Divorce Certificate Application Form, attach a check or money order for the fee and send it to:

Enclose a copy of a valid photo ID and a stamped, self-addressed business-size envelope in the request. For copies of divorce records older than 1909, contact the Sarpy County Clerk of the District Court.
The Vital Records office of the DHHS also provides marriage, death, and birth records for Sarpy County. Available records at the office include certificates for marriages that occurred from 1909 to the present. For marriage records prior to 1909, contact the Sarpy County Clerk of County Court or the state historical society by sending a request to P.O. Box 82554, Lincoln, NE 68501. To request a copy of a marriage certificate, download and complete the application form. The process and fee for submission are the same as explained above for obtaining divorce records.
The DHHS has birth and death records from 1904 to the present. To request Sarpy County birth or death records from the office, complete the birth or death application form. Mail it along with a check or money of $17.00 for a birth record, or $16.00 for a death record. Enclose a photocopy of a valid ID and forward the request to the same address as provided above for divorce records.

Fax or mail copies of Sarpy County property information cost $5 per page, while paper copies cost 50 cents per page. Paper copies of Plats 13 Inches by 19 Inches cost $1. To obtain certified copies of the property documents, applicants may have to pay an additional fee of $1.50 per page. People requesting copies of Sarpy County property records may have to do so in writing and also accompany their request with full payment or evidence of complete fee.
